Myself My name is Zachary VanderLaan. I am the current webmaster of Shiyami-H, and have been since it started in september of 2003. I currently put in what free time I have between college, working at xentel (EVIL TELEMARKETERS ^_^), and trying to find a girl. I'm planning to change jobs soon which should give me more time, but who knows. I first started collecting hentai when I was in the 6th grade, and a friend showed me a picture of misty naked. Since then it has always been a hobby for me, and now that I'm old enough, I decided to start this website to share the wealth a bit. One other very important thing you need to know about me is I am a straitforward, pun loving nerd. Things like L337 and hackerish stuff are fun to me. I love techno, and I will always be as blunt as possible while still making something sound fun.

Ashley Ashley used to be what my free time went into. If I wasnt at school or work, I was with her. Things didn't work out between us, and so now I dont see her at all, but she has still made contributions to the site and will thus be imortalized here forever. Over the years she has helped the site by designing graphics for some of the old layouts, and also helping with site design idea's.

Jeff A Good friend of mine, Jeff has helped me sort through thousands and thousands of fonts to find the perfect one that will look good, and still leave the site open with lots of room. He will be immortalized forever for his saving me hundreds of hours looking at boring ol' fonts, thanks Jeff.

Shiyami Shiyami is a word I made up for lack of a better word. It started after watching the show Noir, and liking the name "shinsei noir" which is roughly translated to true black. I wanted the form true evil, and I had found two of them. I had found "shinsei" which is a better form of true, and I stuck with noir because of its roots within the show. After a while this became pointless though, and didn't really have an identity of its own, so I once again set out to find "true evil" which is shinko kurayami. I then shortened it so people could say it to shi yami or shiyami, and thus my nickname was born.

The Site This site has been online since September of 2003. Originally it was hosted at Hentairack by the great and wonderful Chris (also known as the rowan). He's a great guy, and also the man behind the curtins for Hentaikey. The site has gone through 3 major makover's, going from fully text based with no layout, to being fully text based with a mild layout, to being fully graphical, with a major layout. My first attempt required me to have about 100 pages of HTML all hardcoded, about 20 min of flesh and blood invested into each one. My second attempt was actually worse, but I thought it was worth it to add a layout... boy was I wrong. My second attempt I had over 500 pages of HTML hardcoded, and I spent closer to 45 min per page. My final attempt, the one we have now, was done over a period of about 2 weeks, investing about 2 or 3 hours a day. This design method has about 15 pages hardcoded, most of them in php, and they are all designed to be self-evolving, so all I should ever have to do to update from now on is find and upload good hentai, and update the news page. And as nice as that sounds, as of August 7th I've decided the look of the last layout was... well, it was ugly, and so I once again re-vamped it. It is still smaller than it once was, but it is now consist of a TON of hardcoded HTML simply because it is hosting information that is specific to the subject, not generic. Also, the current layout is credited to Lina Inverse of Sky Goddess Hentai. She origonally created the design, and I copied/modeled my site off of it to a VERY VERY large extent.

Behind The Site There have been many people behind the site. First I need to thank Chris, the man behind Hentaikey. Through my learning process of being a webmaster I have made at least a hundred mistakes, and moaned and bitched and complained about the smallest little details here and there to him for so long I cant believe he didn't bitchslap me, so thanks Chris, for being such a great hentai webmaster host. Next person to thank is Ashley. While we were together she gave me basic stress relief that otherwise would have driven me mad. I couldn't have done it without her, so thanks ^_^. Finally, I'm ganna say thanks to globat.com. Even though I'm paying the bastards for webspace and bandwidth, I gatta say they know there stuff. 24/7 phone tech support means any time I ever have an issue I call them and they handle it ASAP. The site also has like, god speed because they are one of the fastest servers online (they host microsoft.com, probably half the reason they aren't faster than they are). The final person behind the site thus far is Lina Inverse. She designed Sky Goddess Hentai, and another smaller sub-page called Eva Central, and the site layout is completely designed around what I saw there.
